The sample will be cut from the product. 3 lines are drawn on the reverse side. Corners are cut to facilitate the assembly of the equipment. If the test piece is difficult to remove due to the shape of the piece, an equivalent test piece can be used. To reach the line for samples exceeding the burn time of 300 seconds, a line is drawn to the position where the burn time exceeds 300 seconds. Burn time is then measured to the line.
If a flat test piece cannot be cut due to the shape of the piece, it is cut from any area no thicker than 12,7 mm at any point.
If the length or width of a test piece is less than the specified dimensions, the maximum available width or length is used.
If the surface material consists of more than two material types and is fully bonded or fused, the material will be considered composite material and used as is.
If the surface material consists of more than two types of material and is neither fully bonded nor fused, the test pieces shall be cut separately and not more than 12,7 mm thick.
Material thicker than 12.7 mm shall be cut to a thickness of 12,7 mm from the exposed cabinet interior surface for use as a test piece.
A piece adhered to and attached to the body panel will be scraped with a scraper and used as a test piece.
The flammability varies with the sampling direction as well as the color of the test pieces. Therefore, preliminary tests for sampling direction and color should be made. Most flammable test pieces
will be used. For the following materials, processes, and part shapes, a preliminary test will be made for the sampling direction of the test pieces. Make sure which sampling direction is easily lit. Test pieces will then be prepared in this direction.
Material: fabric, pvc coating, carpet
Process: pressed parts (ceiling, floor carpet, door trim, etc.)
Part shape: continuous part (speaker grille, fan, etc.)
