VW PV 3905 Organic Materials - Ball Drop Test

This standard describes the test to determine material behavior in a ball drop test at constant temperature (for example, susceptibility to fracture and cracking at low temperatures) for components such as sheets, films or trims made of organic materials.

Unless otherwise agreed, at least 5 samples should be taken. In the case of roll stock, samples should be evenly distributed over the entire width, and in the case of molded parts, samples should be taken from as flat a surface as possible.

Aging begins with the insertion of the ball drop device prepared for testing into the test chamber conditioned at the aging temperature, and ends with the ball dropping at the aging temperature after the specified aging time.
