SAE J2027 Test Standard for Gasoline Fuel Pipeline Protective Caps

This SAE J2027 standard contains performance requirements for protective caps for flexible, non-metallic fuel pipes. The final performance of the protective cap may depend on the interaction of the fuel cylinder and the protective cap. It is therefore recommended that pipe and cap combinations be tested as an assembly when appropriate to qualify for this document.

This document is intended to provide guidance on key performance parameters for fuel cylinder protective caps. This document is designed to allow predetermined performance levels to be selected for these parameters.

The engineer can select a specification using a line call definition that will indicate the relevant characteristics of the closure material and/or the tube/cap assembly and their corresponding performance criteria.

The engineer does not need to select every feature, but only those that are considered important to the application. Features not covered by this document and considered important to the engineer should be added using the "Z" suffixes with a detailed description for each "Z" in the part drawing.

This document may contain hazardous materials, operations and equipment. This document does not address the security issues associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this document to consult and establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
