This test method will be used to determine the effects of weather conditions using a xenon arc lamp source (artificial sunlight) to simulate the extreme environmental conditions encountered inside a vehicle due to sunlight, heat and humidity.
This method will be used to assess color fastness as well as being an artificial aging method to assess deterioration.
The aging device shall consist of a climatic chamber made of corrosion-resistant material containing the light source (air-cooled or water-cooled xenon arc lamp), filter system and frame holder for test specimens.
Test specimens are exposed to artificial weathering in a xenon-arc weathering device that simulates the extreme environmental conditions encountered inside a vehicle due to sunlight, heat and humidity. Test samples are then evaluated for color fastness (fading) or other degradation modes.
