Only materials and components that meet the minimum requirements may be used for new developments. If the fogging values do not meet the requirements, it is sufficient reason to reject the sample. Limit values are minimum requirements that must be met by new developments.
If it is not possible to produce round samples with a diameter of (3015 ± 80) mm from the component specified in PV 1, (10 ± 0,5) g of the component should be weighed instead. If the component weighs less than 10 g, the entire component should be weighed for testing. Weights will be recorded. The values determined according to PV 3015 shall be referred to the weights. The result should be stated as µg fogging condensate per gram of component.
A limit value of ≤ 50 µg/g applies to all materials not listed. The limit value of ≤ 5 µg/g applies to all materials used in lamps or lamp bodies.
Coatings visible to the eye or to the touch (eg sticky, oily, sticky, matte) when applying PV 3015 should, if necessary, be given separate limit values in the framework of the development release.
