The BMW GS 93008 standard, developed by the BMW automotive manufacturer, describes the requirements for materials and products that are expected to be complied with by contractors throughout their entire life cycle.
In accordance with the legal requirements applicable to the relevant market, the contractor companies are responsible for the registration and, where necessary, authorization or notification of the chemical substances contained in the materials and products, in case of importing a chemical that falls under the scope of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) directive. In addition, the contractor company is obliged to promptly provide, upon request, any information regarding the goods and substances contained herein, even if these goods have already been delivered, as well as the declarations and confirmations requested by BMW in order to fully and timely fulfill its legal obligations.
This standard, which mainly consists of four parts, regulates the content and emissions of dangerous substances in the materials and components used in production.
