EN 1175-2 Safety of Industrial Forklifts - Electrical Requirements - Part 2: General Requirements for Internal Combustion Engine Driven Trucks

This standard specifies the electrical and related mechanical safety requirements for the design and construction of the electrical installation of trucks with starter battery rated voltages up to 24 V and included internal combustion engines.

The requirements of this standard apply when trucks are operated in the following climatic conditions:

• Maximum ambient temperature, continuous operation: +40°C;
• Minimum ambient temperature: -20°C;
• Service altitude: up to 2000 m;
• Relative humidity: 30 to 95% (non-condensing).

This standard covers specific hazards that may occur during the intended use of trucks. For hazards occurring during construction, transportation, commissioning, decommissioning and destruction, reference should be made to EN ISO 12100-2.

This European standard is a type C standard as specified in EN ISO 12100-1. This standard has been prepared as a harmonized standard to provide a way to comply with the electrical aspects of the Machinery Directive and the relevant EFTA Regulations' Basic Safety Requirements. Electrical installations complying with this standard are considered to meet these requirements.

The extent to which the hazards are covered is specified in this standard. In addition, machines must comply with EN ISO 12100-2 for hazards not covered by this European Standard.
