Electrical Properties and Safety Tests of High Voltage Components in LV 123 Highway Vehicles

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of LV 123 testing. This standard can be applied to the driver as a standalone, e-motor or complete drivetrain.

Electrical Properties and Safety Tests of High Voltage Components in LV 123 Highway Vehicles

The test standard is divided into two parts. The purpose of the initial tests is to check the system performance over the entire operating high voltage range and the temperature range over the continuous operating capacity range. The high voltage starts from 0 and the range is up to 1000V (according to customer requirements) and the test setup should be suitable for ambient temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C and cooling water temperature range of -25 °C to 85 °C. °C.

The cycle is repeated 3 times and the inverter must adapt its capabilities to the HVDC setpoint. It is clear that the inverter is limiting its capacity if the HV voltage exceeds the upper limit and recovers after the HV voltage drops below the limit value. The full cycle runs automatically after the test bench control software is programmed to the LV123 specification. In this test case, the cooling circuit target temperature is set to -22 °C inverter input temperature.

Another test is done to prove that the HVDC voltage is measured by two independent measuring paths and verify against each other. The inverter operates at its maximum capacities for 6 different HVDC voltages up to maximum speed. It provides an overview of the test cycle with maximum torque and speed for the inverter's production and motor mode.

The test bench automation skips the setpoint if the drive's limit is reached. This test cycle is performed with a cooling water temperature of 65°C at the inverter input. During the test cycle, test bench automation monitors critical parameters of the inverter and e-motor to safely shut down the system in the event of an event and prevent any damage to the test setup.
