Laboratory Corrosion-Fatigue Testing of SAE J2800 Vehicle Suspension Coil Springs

EUROLAB, together with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of SAE J2800 testing. This laboratory test procedure should be used when evaluating combined corrosion and fatigue performance for a particular coating system, substrate, process, and design.

Laboratory Corrosion-Fatigue Testing of SAE J2800 Vehicle Suspension Coil Springs

The purpose of the test is to provide an A to B comparison of a proposed coil spring design with an existing field validated coil spring design when subjected to the combined effects of corrosion and fatigue. The corrosion mechanisms covered by this test include general, cosmetic and pitting corrosion.

Fatigue testing covers the maximum design stress or stress range of the coil spring design (typically defined as a trip from jolt to rebound positions in a vehicle). The effects of gravel and heat are simulated by preconditioning the springs before the fatigue test. Time-dependent corrosion mechanisms, such as stress corrosion cracking, are not addressed with this test.

EUROLAB assists manufacturers with SAE J2800 test compliance. Our test experts, with their professional working mission and principles, provide you, our manufacturers and suppliers, the best service and controlled testing process in our laboratories. Thanks to these services, businesses receive more effective, high-performance and quality testing services and provide safe, fast and uninterrupted service to their customers.
