VW 50093 Test Standard for Porosity of Metal Castings

The EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services under the VW 50093 standard. This standard defines the requirements for the porosity of the castings of the casting process used.

VW 50093 Test Standard for Porosity of Metal Castings

The basic designation system and the definition of reference surfaces correspond to the VDG manual (VDG specification) VDG P202. Details on the identification system can be obtained from the specification. The allowable porosity of a casting is entered on the corresponding finished part drawing. The pores assignment system consists of the following parameters according to VDG specification VDG P202:

  • The roughness of the reference surface.
  • The pore content is defined as the maximum allowable pore volume in percent for the agreed reference surfaces.
  • The minimum distance to be observed between two adjacent pores is defined by this parameter.
  • The distance specification is an integer factor by which the diameter of the smaller of two adjacent pores is multiplied and the minimum distance is calculated.
  • The value indicates which diameter pores are not taken into account in the reference surface evaluation.
  • This parameter displays the maximum number of individual pores allowed per reference surface as an integer value. Pore deposits are treated here as individual pores.

Our EUROLAB test laboratory complies with ISO/IEC 17020 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories to help ensure accuracy and precision in performing tests, obtaining data and reporting results. EUROLAB comes with metal tests, detailed test reports, images of labels before and after testing, and all test data so they can be examined and analyzed.
