ANSI SAE Z26.1 Safety Glass Test Standard for Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Equipment Operating on Highways

For example, safety glass materials for windshields must pass a certain set of testing requirements, all of which can currently only be met by certain laminated safety glass; however, if and when other safety glazing materials are developed and developed that have the properties to meet the requirements of the tests prescribed for that location, they may also be used; and similar reasoning will apply to other places.
