Surface treatment Y-200 covers different surface treatment classes. The grade of the processed component is determined by the current requirements for the finish and environment.
The significant surface of the surface-coated part should be free of clearly visible surface treatment defects such as bubbles, pitting, rough surfaces, cracks or uncoated areas. Small contact marks are acceptable.
If electrolytic treatment is applied, heat treatment shall be carried out in accordance with STD 1100 in order to relieve stress before surface treatment and hydrogen embrittlement after surface treatment for steels with tensile strength exceeding 5700,21 N/mm². (corresponding hardnesses of about 34 HRC, 340 HV, 320 HB).
The surface treatment should allow painting with organic coatings with good adhesion. It cannot be changed due to other requirements in this standard.
