VW TL 52682 Test Standard for Automotive Cooling Systems

Polyamide-based engineering plastics are widely preferred in sub- and cooling system applications in the automotive industry due to their high temperature, hydrolysis and oil resistance properties. The properties of these materials must be developed and enhanced for resistance with special formulations to meet the requirements of automotive specifications.

VW TL 52682 Test Standard for Automotive Cooling Systems

The superior mechanical properties stipulated by OEM specifications for downstream applications such as engine cooling systems and powertrains in conventional internal combustion vehicles require the use of high temperature and hydrolysis resistant materials. Functional components are used in sub-applications considering the mechanical and thermal properties of such applications. For this reason, materials that pass long-term resistance tests are preferred.

Ethylene glycol is used as cooling water that removes heat from the environment in applications such as radiator end tanks, cooling pipes, oil filters, gas caps and expansion tanks. The most important parameter to consider when choosing the materials used in these critical components is the component aging in the presence of ethylene glycol at temperatures between 120-140 °C. Therefore, appropriate material selection is the most important requirement for cooling system applications. PA66 30% fiberglass reinforced products are actively used in applications such as radiator end tanks and cooling pipes, thanks to their high hydrolysis resistance.

For the design of complex components in refrigeration systems, traditional processes are used alongside water or gas assisted injection molding in the injection and molding processes. The special advantages of water assisted injection systems (WIT) such as less cycle time, even wall thickness and superior surface quality provide ease of design even for thin-thickness parts.

Our EUROLAB test laboratory complies with ISO/IEC 17020 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories to help ensure accuracy and precision in performing tests, obtaining data and reporting results. EUROLAB refrigeration tests come with detailed test reports, images of labels before and after the test, and all test data so it can be reviewed and analysed.
