MIL-STD-1130 Test

Gas Tightness and Winder Resistance

Gas Sealing

When tested according to MIL-STD-1130, 75 percent of the corners contacting with non-insulated wire will be gas tight when tested in accordance with the following directives, except for the first and last turn.

MIL-STD-1130 Test

  • The winding should be thickened with ammonium sulfur gas after exposure to aqua regia fumes.
  • The dressing is hung in a 1 x 2 millimeter (mm) test tube containing approximately 1 to 1 milliliters (ml) of aqua regia solution (16: 150 concentrated hydrochloric and nitric acids) and corked.
  • The solution should not touch the winding assemblies. Winding assemblies will be exposed to aqua regia fumes for 10 minutes.
  • The chemically bound dressing will be transferred to another 1 x 16 mm test tube containing approximately 150 ml of concentrated ammonium sulfur solution.
  • Hang the winding connections in the test tube so that they do not touch the ammonium sulfur solution. Cover the test tube with a cork or rubber stopper and expose the samples to this atmosphere until dark. Copper and gold sulphide color will be developed in all areas exposed to steam.
  • Dry the connections with a tool that does not scratch the post and open it. Gastight zones will appear bright, sharp contrast with colorless area.

Winder Resistance

When measured according to MIL-STD-1130; In Table V, the voltage drop on the wound connection will not exceed 4 millivolts.

The pin should contain a compatible stacking area that provides mechanical stability to MIL-STD-1130. The end of the winding should be beveled to facilitate insertion into the tip, the force should not have a force to disconnect the wrapped connection from the Winding according to MILSTD-1130, no colorless pin surface, Test MIL-STD-1130 Quality assurance Requirements.

Note:

  • The stripping jaw must pass at right angles to the axis of the winding.
  • When the wrap and stripping armature are properly aligned, the opening should be such that there is no binding or wedge between the chin and the wrap.
  • Both sides of the peeling jaw will be in the same plane and will create a flat surface contact with the wire on both sides of the dressing.
  • On a rectangular mast, the jaws of the hook must pass along the main dimension (cross-section) of the terminal. The maximum total gap between the chin and the terminal should not exceed 0,7 x diameter of the wire. When the terminal and stripping tool are properly aligned, the minimum clearance should be such that there is no bond between the jaw and the terminal.
