MIL STD 129 is used to ensure consistency and uniformity between Packages, which in turn helps military personnel easily fill demand when stock of a product is low. MIL-STD-129 applies to labeling of shipments and containers only, while MIL-STD-130 applies to individual units loaded on pallets or cartons.
MIL-STD-129 identifies the containers to which items are shipped as Unit Containers, Intermediate Containers, or Outer Containers. Each of these is exactly as they appear. The unit containers are the innermost containers, the intermediate containers carry the unit containers, and the outer containers are the outermost containers.
