ETSO-C26c Aircraft Wheels and Wheel Brake Kits (CS-23, CS-27 and CS-29 Aircraft)

ETSO (European Technical Standard Order) authorization guides the approval of parts and devices. The European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) is a detailed airworthiness standard issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements as the minimum performance standard for certain substances.

ETSO-C26c Aircraft Wheels and Wheel Brake Kits (CS-23, CS-27 and CS-29 Aircraft)

In the ETSO-C26c standard developed within this framework, it is explained which aircraft wheels and wheel brake devices must be met for the produced CS-23, CS-27 and CS-29 aircraft in order to be identified with the valid ETSO marking.

Aircraft types covered by this standard are:

  • CS-23 Normal, general, aerobatic and commuter aircraft
  • CS-27 Small rotary-wing aircraft
  • CS-29 Large rotary-wing aircraft

Wheels and wheel and brake assemblies suitable for these aircraft should be tested and reported to the standard. The tests carried out in this context are as follows:

  • Wheel tests (maximum radial load test, combined radial and side load test, maximum static load test and pressure test)
  • Wheel brake assembly tests (dynamic torque tests, brake structural torque test, extreme pressure-hydraulic brakes and hydraulic brakes endurance tests)

Elements to be considered in the design are:

  • Lubricant retainers must hold the lubricant in all operating conditions, preventing oil from reaching the brake surfaces and foreign matter entering the bearings.
  • All removable flanges must be mounted on the wheel in such a way as to prevent the removable flange and holding device from detaching from the wheel should a tire deflate while the wheel is rolling.
  • The brake mechanism should be equipped with appropriate adjustment devices when necessary to ensure safe performance.
  • Wheels intended for use on amphibious aircraft should be sealed to prevent water from entering the wheel bearings or other parts of the wheel or brake, unless they are designed so that brake action and service life are not impaired by seawater.
  • Unless determined to be unnecessary, means should be provided to minimize the possibility of wheel and tire bursts from high braking temperatures.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of ETSO-C26c standard, C26c aircraft wheels and wheel brake kits (CS-23, CS-27). and CS-29 aircraft) also provides testing services.
