EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 16654 test standard. This International standard specifies a horizontal method for the detection of Escherichia coli serogroup O157.
Subject to the limitations discussed in the Introduction, this International Standard is applicable to products intended for human consumption or animal feed.
Due to the wide variety of food and feed products, this horizontal method may not be suitable in every detail for some products. In this case, different methods specific to these products can be used if absolutely necessary for legitimate technical reasons. However, every attempt should be made to apply this horizontal method as much as possible.
A review of this International standard will take into account all available information at that time regarding the extent to which this horizontal method was followed and, in the case of certain products, the reasons for deviations from this method.
Harmonization of test methods cannot be immediate and International Standards or national standards may already exist for certain product groups that are not compatible with this horizontal method.
When such standards are reviewed, it is hoped that they will be modified to conform to this International standard so that eventually the only remaining deviations from this horizontal method will be those necessary for well-known technical reasons.
