EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 17362 standard. This standard specifies a liquid chromatographic method with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (MS/MS) detection for the determination of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in feed materials and animal feeds.
The limit of determination (LOQ) for the determination of guar gum, fatty acid distillates (FAD) and PCP in animal feed is 10 µg/kg. Individual laboratories are responsible for ensuring that the equipment they use reaches this quantification limit.
The method was validated in an international collaborative study for pentachlorophenol in compound feed, guar gum and fatty acid distillate in the range of 9 µg/kg to 22 µg/kg.
The results of a collaborative study involving 16 laboratories showed that the method is applicable for the determination of PCP in compound feed, guar gum and FAD at the desired limit of 10 µg/kg.
Use only reagents of analytical grade and of appropriate purity for organochlorine residue analysis. Check the purity of the reagents by performing a blank test under the same conditions used in the method. The chromatogram should not show any interfering impurities at the retention time of the compounds of interest.
