This specification covers nominal wall thickness welded pipes and very cold worked welded pipes made of austenitic steels of various grades intended for use as boiler, superheater, heat exchanger or condenser pipes.
Pipe sizes and thicknesses generally provided according to this specification, from 1/8 inch [3,2 mm] inside diameter to 12 inch [304,8 mm] outside diameter and 0,015 to 0,320 inch [0,4 to 8,1 mm], including should be wall thickness. Pipes of other dimensions can be laid, provided that such pipes comply with all other requirements of this specification.
Mechanical property requirements do not apply to tubing less than 1/8 inch [3,2 mm] ID or 0,015 inch [0,4 mm] thickness. Additional optional requirements are provided and when one or more of these is requested, each will be specified in turn.
Values stated in inch-pound units or SI units will be considered standard separately. In the text, SI units are shown in parentheses. Values specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of the other.
