ASTM C1652 Test to Measure Optical Distortion in Flat Glass Products Using Digital Photograph of Grids

This standard covers the determination of optical distortions of heat-strengthened and fully tempered architectural glass substrates processed in a temperature-controlled continuous or oscillating transport furnace.

See Specifications C1036 and C1048 for a discussion of the properties of glass treated in this way. In this test method, the reflected image of the treated glass is photographed and the photographic image is analyzed to measure the distortion caused by surface waviness.

The test method is also useful for measuring optical distortion observed in transmitted light in laminated glass assemblies.

Values ​​specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of the other. Combining values ​​from the two systems may result in non-compliance with the standard.
