EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM C1026 standard. According to ASTM C1026: "This test method describes the procedures and equipment required to test the resistance of glazed or unglazed ceramic or glass tiles to repeated freezing and thawing cycles. Tiles of any size or shape can be tested with this test method."
The tile samples are dried in the oven and cooled in the desiccator. The dry weight of each sample is recorded, then placed in boiling deionized water for 5 hours. The samples are then soaked in water for at least 24 hours. Each sample is placed horizontally in a freezing container that ranges from 27 ̊F to 40 ̊F. 300 freeze-thaw cycles are run and eventually the samples are removed from the freezer container and dried in the oven for 24 hours.
The samples are then weighed and visually inspected for cracks, splinters or splinters.
