ASTM D4783 Standard Test for Resistance of Container Adhesive Preparations to Bacterial - Yeast and Fungal Attack

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, offers precise and rapid testing services within the scope of ASTM D4783 testing. These testing methods involve determining the resistance of liquid adhesive preparations to microbial attack in the container by testing adhesive samples with bacterial, yeast or fungal cultures and checking their ability to return to sterility. These testing methods provide qualitative results.

These test methods are used to demonstrate whether an adhesive preparation is adequately protected by biocide to resist attack by bacteria, yeast and fungi throughout its storage life. They are shaped according to the methods used by biological laboratories serving the adhesive industry.

These test methods can also be used to determine the effectiveness of different biocide systems against specific microorganisms.

These testing methods are particularly useful when testing against wild-type microorganisms isolated from contaminated adhesives, helping to determine the amount and type of biocide required to kill or inhibit the growth of contaminants. If an isolated microorganism that is not usually used as a threat organism is selected as a vaccine, it is important to identify the organism and determine in what environment and under what conditions it will grow in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the biocide.

The presence of an active biocide transported from the adherent sample to the agar can have an inhibitory effect on the growth of microorganisms, resulting in no growth occurring during a normal incubation period when in fact live microorganisms are present, but their growth slows or remains static. To neutralize the effect of this contamination, the use of Letheen agar and broth is recommended.

This standard does not purport to address all safety issues, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
