ASTM F2869 Standard Test for Radial Light Truck Tires

This standard describes the procedure for determining equivalent test severity conditions for radial pneumatic light truck (LT) tires between a 1.707 m diameter laboratory road wheel surface and a flat or highway surface.

The operating intensity of the tire, defined as the operating or operating temperature for certain specific tube positions, is not the same for these two test conditions. Typically higher for a laboratory road wheel under conditions of equal load, speed, and inflation pressure due to the curvature effect.

The application applies to the specific operating conditions of light truck tires up to the load range E for such tires used on vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) ≤ 4536 kg (10000 lb).

The prediction profilers are based on empirically developed linear regression models derived from the analysis of a large database from an extensive experimental test program for road wheel and flat surface testing of typical radial light truck (LT) tires.
