ASTM C1609 Standard Test for Flexural Performance of Fiber Reinforced Concrete

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ASTM C1609 testing. This standard evaluates the flexural performance of fiber-reinforced concrete using parameters obtained from the load-deflection curve obtained by testing a simply supported beam under third point loading using a closed-loop, servo-controlled test system.

ASTM C1609 Standard Test for Flexural Performance of Fiber Reinforced Concrete

This test method allows the determination of the first peak and peak loads and Eq. It provides the calculation of the corresponding stresses by entering the modulus of rupture formula given in 1. It also requires the determination of residual loads at certain deflections, calculating the corresponding residual strengths by including them in the modulus of rupture formula given in Equation 1 (see Note 1). It allows determination of sample toughness based on the area under the load-deflection curve up to a predicted deflection (see Note 2) and the corresponding equivalent flexural strength ratio.

Strength is no longer an actual stress, but an engineering stress calculated using simple engineering bending theory for linear elastic materials and gross (non-cracked) section properties.

Sample toughness, expressed in terms of area under the load deflection curve, is an indicator of the energy absorbing capacity of the particular test sample, and its magnitude is directly dependent on the geometry and loading configuration of the test sample.

This test method uses two preferred sample sizes 300 x 12 x 100 mm [100 x 350 x 4 inches] or 4 x 14 x 150 mm [150 x 500 x 6 inches] tested at 6 mm [20 inches] aperture . inch] Tested at 450 mm [18 inch] aperture. A sample size different from the two preferred sample sizes is allowed.

Units - Values stated in SI units or inch-pound units will be considered separately as standard. Values specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-compliance with the standard.
