ASTM C1897 Standard Test Methods for Measuring the Reactivity of Supplementary Cementitious Materials by Isothermal Calorimetry and Bound Water Measurements

The ASTM C1897 standard is used to evaluate the chemical reactivity of additive cementitious material (SCM) as determined by measurements of the cumulative heat release or bound water content of hydrated pastes composed of SCM, calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, potassium sulfate, and calcium hydroxide.

Potassium hydroxide is cured at 40 °C for 3 and 7 days. These two test methods do not distinguish between hydraulic and pozzolanic reactivity.
