The ASTM C469 test provides a stress-strain ratio value and lateral and longitudinal strain ratio for hardened cylindrical concrete regardless of age and curing conditions.
ASTM C469 is a compression test in which a load up to a certain stress is applied with a constant Speed of Motion (CRT) type machine. Modulus of elasticity and Poisson ration values will be found in the operating voltage range (0% to 40% of final strength).
These values are used to determine the size of the structural members, the amount of reinforcement and to calculate the stress for the observed strains.
The modulus of elasticity under static velocity will be less than values under dynamic or seismic velocity and greater than values under slow load application. Before performing ASTM C469, it is important to read the entire specification in the relevant ASTM publication.
