ASTM D1184 Test for Flexural Strength of Glued Laminated Assemblies

This standard covers the determination of comparative characteristics of metal or wood adhesive bonded assemblies with shaped specimens and when subjected to bending stresses under defined conditions of pretreatment, temperature, relative humidity and test technique.

The test specimen and test technique are designed to create a large shear force between the laminates of the test piece when load is applied, rather than minimizing shear stress as is done in other ASTM test methods for bending properties. This method does not apply to assemblies made with non-rigid adhesives. Obtained data are not suitable for design study.
