This standard covers the determination of the temperature at which random deformation occurs when samples are subjected to a random set of test conditions.
This test method applies to molded and sheet materials that are solid or semi-rigid at normal temperature, available in thicknesses of 3 mm (1/8 inch) or greater.
Plate stock less than 3 mm (0.125 inches) thick but greater than 1 mm (0.040 inches) thick may be tested using a composite specimen with a minimum thickness of 3 mm. The laminate should have a uniform stress distribution. A uniform composite sample was prepared by gluing the ends of the laminates together and then smoothing the edges with sandpaper. The loading direction should be perpendicular to the edges of the individual laminates.
