This test method applies to most fabrics, including woven, layered blankets, diaper pile, blanket, and air cushion fabrics, but the fabric does not tear in the direction of the force application during testing. Fabrics may be untreated, heavily sized, coated, resin-treated, or otherwise treated. Instructions are provided for testing samples with or without wetting.

This test method is only suitable for solution direction testing of knitted fabrics. It is not suitable for the route direction of warped knit fabrics or the direction of any of the other knitted fabrics.
