This standard covers the determination of the tensile and tensile adhesion properties of solid cellular materials in the form of standard shaped test specimens under defined conditions of temperature, humidity and test machine speed.

Tensile properties should be measured using any of three types of samples:

  • Type A will be the preferred sample where sufficient sample material is available to form the required sample;
  • When only smaller samples are available, as with sandwich panels, Type B will be the preferred sample;
  • Type C will be the sample of choice for determining the tensile adhesive properties of a cellular plastic to a substrate (top and bottom substrate), as in a sandwich panel, or the adhesion strength of a porous plastic to a single substrate.

Values ​​stated in SI units should be accepted as standard.
