ASTM D1623 Test Standard for Tensile and Tensile Adhesion Properties of Rigid Cellular Plastics

ASTM D1623, published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), establishes the standard procedure for determining the tensile and tensile adhesion properties of solid cellular plastics in the form of standard shaped test specimens under defined conditions of temperature, humidity, and test machine speed.

ASTM D1623 Test Standard for Tensile and Tensile Adhesion Properties of Rigid Cellular Plastics

This test standard is a fixed crosshead motion type testing machine; self-aligning type jaws for holding test specimens; an extension indicator; and a lathe requires the use of sample cutters.

This test standard covers the determination of the tensile and tensile adhesion properties of solid cellular materials in the form of standard shaped test specimens under defined conditions of temperature, humidity, and test machine speed.

Tensile properties should be measured using any of three types of samples: Type A will be the preferred sample; Sandwich panels, etc. Type B will be the preferred sample when only smaller samples are available, such as; Type C will be the sample of choice for determining the tensile adhesive properties of a cellular plastic to a substrate, as in a sandwich panel, or the adhesion strength of a porous plastic to a single substrate.

Values stated in SI units will be accepted as standard. There is no equivalent ISO standard.

Our organization also provides testing services within the scope of the ASTM D1623 test standard for the tensile and tensile adhesion properties of rigid cellular plastics, within the framework of laboratory testing services.
