EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM D1683 standard. This test method measures seam strength in woven fabrics by applying a perpendicular force to the sewn seams.
The grip test procedure in Test Method D5034 will be used to identify any property in the fabric that could affect the measurement of sewn seam strength.
This test method is used when breaking force, minimal elongation, or both are required to determine the sewn seam strength, seam slippage, or seam integrity of a particular fabric for a particular end use.
This test method can also be used to determine the sewn seam strength of textiles or the efficiency of a sewing assembly with any fabric.
In addition, the seam strengths of different fabrics can be directly compared using one of the standard sewing setups specified. Comparative tests may be recommended as available information on laboratory precision is lacking.
