ASTM D1849 Test Standard for Package Stability of Paint

This standard covers the procedures for testing the packaging stability of liquid paint by determining the change in consistency and some other properties of solvent or water-reducible type paint when stored above a certain temperature. Test equipment includes spatula, viscometer, paintbrush and test surface. Samples for testing should be taken from collected and stored samples. Samples are observed for any crusting, corrosion, rot odor, rancidity or rancidity, substrate hardness, consistency, and the presence of lumps or streaks in the brushed films.
