In typical applications, the structural sealant acts to hold the outer lite in place under wind and gravity load and to keep the edge spacer in its proper position. Hereinafter, the term "insulating glass" will be abbreviated as "IG".
Characterization of IG secondary sealant properties identified by this test method is highly dependent on glass and marginer cleaning procedures, IG spacer profile, spacer location, and primary IG sealant application. Users of this test method should be aware that it affects the secondary sealing properties of the IG edge seal assembly.
The values determined by this test method will be characteristic of the particular edge seal assembly tested.
