ASTM D8295 Standard Test for Shear Wave Velocity in Soil Samples Using Bender Elements

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ASTM D8295 testing. This test method involves the laboratory use of piezo-ceramic bending elements to determine shear wave velocity in soil samples.

ASTM D8295 Standard Test for Shear Wave Velocity in Soil Samples Using Bender Elements

A shear wave is generated at one boundary of a soil sample and then received at an opposite boundary. The shear wave travel time is measured, which gives the shear wave velocity over a known travel distance. This is determined from the shear wave velocity and the density of the soil sample by the initial shear modulus (Gmax), which is the result of primary interest from bending member tests.

The initial shear modulus (Gmax) of a soil sample under certain stress and time conditions is an important parameter in small-strain dynamic analyzes such as those for predicting soil behavior or soil-structure interaction during earthquakes, explosions, and machinery or traffic.

ASTM D8295 is designed for use by geotechnical engineers, researchers, and test laboratories involved in the characterization of soil behavior.

EUROLAB assists manufacturers with ASTM D8295 test compliance. Our test experts offer the best service and controlled testing process in our laboratories to you, our manufacturers and suppliers, with professional working mission and principles.
