ASTM D2208 Standard Test Method for Fracture Strength of Leather by Grip Method

Designed for use on light, soft leathers; overlapped, suede or embossed leathers tested on a sample in the form of a rectangular piece; leathers with narrow straps, stripes, lace and round belts; or other skins that cannot be tested correctly with test method D2209.

The test method is not recommended for breaking loads greater than 500 lbf (2200 N) due to specimen slippage in the jaws.
