ASTM D2248 Test Application

The method of application, film thickness, curing and conditioning of the test surface will be agreed between the buyer and seller. Ridges, groove edges and areas containing identification marks or in contact with supports shall be protected by a suitable coating that is stable under test conditions.

ASTM D2248 Test Procedure

Suspend test samples vertically in the container so that at least half of the surface area is submerged in the detergent solution. Separate test specimens so that they do not come into contact with any metal and are no closer than 25 mm (1 inch) from each other at any point in the bath.

Replace the detergent solution with a new detergent solution every 168 hours. Immerse the test samples in Tyoe 4 deionized water while changing the detergent solution. Do not keep test samples out of detergent solution for more than 30 minutes. If sequential tests are to be correlated, each test must include control panels. The panel composition and paint formulation used for control panels will be the same for each test.
