ASTM D6294 Test for Corrosion Resistance of Ferrous Metal Fasteners Used in Roofing and Waterproofing

This test method evaluates the relative corrosion resistance of components by determining the percentage of rust or white rust.

Components may or may not be surface treated.

A limiting factor is subjectivity when determining the percentage of actual rust or white rust corrosion.

Other performance characteristics of ferrous metal components, such as the abrasion resistance of barrier coatings, are not evaluated in this method.

Values ​​stated in SI units or inch-pound units will be considered standard separately. The values ​​specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of the other. Combining values ​​from the two systems may result in non-compliance with the standard.
