ASTM D3335 Test Standard for Low Concentrations of Lead Cadmium and Cobalt in Paint

ASTM Tests

ASTM D3335 Test Standard for Low Concentrations of Lead Cadmium and Cobalt in Paint

This standard covers the determination of lead 0,01 content between 5 and 2% in the non-volatile part of the liquid, cadmium content between 50 and 150 ppm (mg/kg), and cobalt content between 50 and 2000 ppm (mg/kg). Available in coatings or dried films. Provided appropriate dilutions and adjustments are made to sample size and reagent amounts, there is no reason to believe that higher levels of all three elements cannot be determined by this test method.

ASTM D3335 Test Standard for Low Concentrations of Lead Cadmium and Cobalt in Paint

Only pigmented coatings were used to evaluate this standard, but there is no reason to believe that varnishes and varnishes cannot be successfully analyzed provided appropriate precautions are taken. This standard does not apply to the determination of lead in samples containing antimony pigments (low recoveries are obtained).

Minor lead losses may occur if the sample to be analyzed contains lead in the form of an organic lead compound in a concentration higher than 0,1%.

ASTM D3335 testing services are provided by EUROLAB to businesses within the scope of low lead tests in paint.
