ASTM D5112 Standard Test Method for Vibration (Horizontal Linear Motion) Testing of Products

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM D5112 test standard. The purpose of ASTM D5112 is to determine the resonance of unpackaged products and components when horizontal linear motion is applied to the surface on which the product is mounted.

ASTM D5112 Standard Test Method for Vibration (Horizontal Linear Motion) Testing of Products

There are two alternative test methods for ASTM D5112.

Test Method A: Resonance Search Using Sinusoidal Vibration
Test Method B: Resonance Search Using Random Vibration

Information from these test methods is used to study the response of products to vibration. Since damage caused by vibration is likely to be observed at resonant frequencies, this test can be used to improve the design with changes that minimize damage.

The sinusoidal wait and random test methods are optional when evaluating possible changes. However, they can help evaluate the fatigue properties of resonant components. It is important to note that this test does not simulate field conditions that the product will encounter.

This standard does not purport to address all, if any, safety concerns associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
