Liquids are not covered in this guide as they are encountered much less frequently in metals and mining laboratories. However, aqueous liquids can be processed by borate fusion to form solid samples, and X-ray spectrometers can be equipped to directly process liquids.
Some provisions of this manual are applicable to the use of an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer.
