ASTM D368 Standard Test Method for Specific Gravity of Creosote and Oil-Type Preservatives

This test method involves determining the specific gravity of oil-type preservatives by means of a hydrometer. Test methods involve taking samples of wood preservatives prior to testing. Use test method D 369 to determine the specific gravity of the distillation fractions of such preservatives.

This is a test method for determining the specific gravity of creosote and creosote-coal tar solutions for compliance with the D 390 and D 391 specifications. It can also be used with other oil type preservatives.
