This test method is the standard for determining the cold filter plugging point (CFPP) temperature of diesel and domestic heating fuels using a manual or automatic apparatus.
CFPP is the temperature at which diesel or heating fuel can no longer pass through a standard filter under certain test conditions and is an important parameter for fuel quality control and ensuring proper fuel performance in cold weather.
During testing, a sample of diesel or heating fuel is cooled under controlled conditions and then filtered through a standard filter assembly. The temperature at which the fuel starts to clog the filter is recorded as CFPP.
The results of the test can be used to determine the low temperature performance of the fuel and to select the appropriate fuel for a particular application, taking into account the expected operating conditions and climate.
