ASTM E1603 Standard Test for Mass Spectrometer Leak Detector in Hood Mode

The test can be performed on any object that can be evacuated and to which helium or other tracer gas can be applied. The object must be able to be evacuated to a pressure of 0,1 Pa (approximately 10 -3 torr) structurally.

Three test methods are described:

  • Test Method A, For the object under test that can be emptied but not naturally pumping;
  • Test Method B, For the tested object with Integrated pumping;
  • Test Method C for the tested object as in Test Method B, where the vacuum pumps of the tested object replace those normally used in the leak detector (LD).
