ASTM D2435 Standard Test of One-Dimensional Consolidation of Soils Using Incremental Loading

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ASTM D2435 testing. This test method covers procedures for determining the extent and rate of consolidation of the soil when it is held laterally and drained axially while subjected to a gradually applied controlled tensile loading.

ASTM D2435 Standard Test of One-Dimensional Consolidation of Soils Using Incremental Loading

There are two types of test methods: The first test method is performed with a constant load rise time of 24 hours or a multiple thereof. Time strain readings are required for at least two load increments. The second test is that time-strain readings are required at all load increases. Consecutive load increments are applied after 100% primary consolidation is reached or in fixed-time increments as described in Test Method A.

The standard also provides guidance on interpreting test results and reporting data. Overall, ASTM D2435 is an important standard for geotechnical engineering and soil science and provides a standardized method for determining the one-dimensional consolidation properties of soils.
