This standard is designed to be tougher, stain resistant, more resistant to abrasion and normally for steel, masonry (cast concrete, concrete block or cinder block) wall surfaces and plaster or gypsum wallboard.
Not all of these tests are required for every HIPAC system. The choice of test methods to be followed should be determined by experience and the requirements in each case, together with agreement between buyer and seller.
High performance architectural coatings are robust, extra-durable organic coating systems that are applied as a continuous (continuous) film and cured to a hard surface.
The finish can be high gloss, semi gloss or low gloss as desired. These coatings are resistant to persistent heat, moisture, abrasion, staining, chemicals and fungal growth.
They are used in areas where unusual chemical resistance requirements against moisture, abrasion or particularly contamination are required and strong detergents are used to maintain sanitary conditions. Hallways and stairs in public buildings, toilets, stall showers, changing areas, animal shelters and biological laboratories are typical applications.
While they are perfect for walls, HIPAC is generally not designed for ceilings and floors. They are not normally used in homes, although parents with young children may want to use HIPAC coatings on some walls.
The types of resins normally used are: epoxy-polyamide, two packs; polyester-epoxy, two packs; polyurethane, single pack or two pack. However, other types of resins are not excluded, provided they meet the requirements (performance characteristics) set by the buyer.
