This standard covers carbon steel or low alloy steel based plate to which a layer of stainless chrome-nickel steel is integrally and continuously bonded on one or both sides. The material is generally intended for pressure vessel use.
This standard specifies the requirements for a plate for a pressure vessel made of carbon steel or low alloy steel to which a layer of stainless chrome-nickel steel is integrally and continuously bonded on one or both sides. The steel will be made by open hearth, electric furnace or basic oxygen processes and the alloy cladding metal will be metallurgically bonded to the base metal. The steel clad plate will be heat treated.
Steel samples will be subjected to tensile testing and will comply with the required tensile strength and yield strength values. Steel materials will also be subjected to bending tests and will comply with the required shear strength and adhesion strength values. Product and chemical analyzes will also be performed on steel samples.
Values stated in inch-pound units will be considered standard. Values in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units, provided for informational purposes only and are not considered standard.
