ASTM D429 Standard Method for Adhering Rubber to Hard Surfaces

• Method B: 90 degree peel test – Rubber piece mounted on a metal plate – Determines the bond strength of rubber-to-metal bonding agents.
• Method C: Measurement of rubber-to-metal adhesion with a conical sample - Provides data for the development and control of bonding systems and components.
• Method D: Adhesion test: After vulcanization of rubber-to-metal bonding (PV)- Determines the rubber's bonding strength to metal when bond forms after rubber is cured.
• Method E: 90 degree peel test - Rubber tank liner - mounted on a metal plate - Determines the adhesion strength of the rubber tank liner to the tank wall.
• Method F: Rubber piece mounted between two parallel convex shaped metal plates - Determines the bond strength of rubber-to-metal bonding agents.
• Method G: Measuring bond strength for rubber-t0-metal bonded components with a double shear cylindrical sample - Determines the relative bond strength between various adhesives.
• Method H: Measurement of bond strength of rubber-to-metal bonded components with a quadruple lap shear specimen - Except that no fixtures that give shear stress are required,
• The method is the same as G, only a simple block is placed on the test piece after the pretension is completed.
