ASTM D4329 Standard Practice for Plastics Exposure of Fluorescent Ultraviolet (UV) Lamp Apparatus

ASTM D4329 tests fluorescent UV exposure of plastics. These standard practices cover the specific procedures and test conditions applicable to the exposure of a fluorescent UV lamp and plastics to the water apparatus conducted in accordance with G151 and G154. This standard also covers the preparation of test specimens, the optimal test conditions for plastics, and the evaluation of test results.

When polymers are exposed to external conditions such as light, heat and water, their mechanical, electrical and optical properties can change significantly. This method aims to accelerate property changes associated with end-use conditions, including the effects of daylight, humidity in addition to heat. Simulation of degradation by local weather conditions such as atmospheric pollution, biological attack and exposure to salt water is not intended with the exposure used in this application.
