ASTM D4576 Standard Test for Mold Growth Resistance of Wet Blue and Wet White

This test method may not be suitable for evaluating fungicides inactivated by proteins. This includes alkyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chlorides.

Results on mold growth resistance are obtained by comparing the test with a simultaneous control of known resistance. Success or failure is determined by the amount of mold growth relative to the control.

To allow use of this test method by any laboratory, flexibility is allowed in the selection of incubation time, temperature and humidity, inoculum, skin sampling site, and control. These can be adjusted to suit local conditions but should be standardized.
